Responsible Recycling (R2) Certification adheres to the R2 Standard for responsible practices for used electronics. It was developed in 2008 by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI) to address the operational and environmental challenges in recycling and repairing electronics.
Those who contributed to the development of the standard include NGOs, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), regulators from state agencies, OEMS/customers of electronics recycling services and electronics recyclers, refurbishers and their trade associations.
R2 Practices went through their first revision (R2v2) in 2013 and their second one most recently in 2020 (R2v3) thanks to the popularity of mobile devices and long-last batteries.
As an R2v3 certified facility, Simple Cell promises to protect the planet by:
- Improving performance and reducing environmental impacts on developing countries
- Protecting the recycling chain
- Improving worker health and safety
- Meeting customer expectations for data security
By following the R2v3 standards, Simple Cell will help decrease the effects of improper recycling, improve accessibility for recycled and refurbished items, and help with conservation of the overall environment.
